KUB Improvement Proposal (KIP)

What is the KUB Improvement Proposal (KIP)?

KIP stands for KUB Improvement Proposal. A KIP is a design document providing information to the KUB community or describing a new feature for KUB or its processes, or environment. The goal of the KIP project is to standardize and provide high-quality documentation for the KUB itself and the conventions built upon it. The KIP repository tracks past and ongoing improvements to KUB through KUB Improvement Proposals (KIPs).

How does it work?

Before you write a KIP, ideas must be thoroughly discussed on this forum. Once consensus is reached, thoroughly read and review KIP-1, which describes the KIP process. The following are the processes the author must follow to start working on the KIP:

  1. The author opens a discussion thread on the KUB Discord server forum.

  2. The author writes a draft KIP according to the guidelines. The author may include an implementation.

  3. The author then files a pull request on the KIPs repository for consideration.

  4. The author submits changes to the draft until the KIP is mature and ready. The author then submits the draft for review.

  5. The KIP will be listed on GitHub for changes and reviews by KUB. The author will have to make changes and edits.

  6. KUB will finally review the KIP before moving to the Final status.

  7. The KIP is implemented and adopted by the community. The KIP represents the final standard

Importance and Benefits of KIPs towards KUB Network

KIPs are intended to be the primary mechanisms for proposing new features, collecting community technical input on an issue, and documenting the design decisions that have gone into KUB. The KIP author is responsible for building consensus within the community and documenting dissenting opinions. KIPs are specifications intended to outline future KUB features or improvements. They enable the network's developers and community users to suggest new features, adjustments, protocol standards, and solutions. The KIP proposal seeks to enhance the KUB network with the suggested modifications or new features if it is approved by the community. For enhancement ideas, KIPs are comparable to the Bitcoin Enhancement Proposal (BIP) and Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) used by Bitcoin and Ethereum, respectively.
